In 1984, Heather moved to Barrie, Ontario. She also began studying part time for a Ph.D. in English at York University in Toronto. As well, she began writing a novel about Poland. In 1989, Heather decided she didn’t have time to finish her Ph.D. because she wanted to spend more time writing fiction, so she accepted another Master’s degree and left York.
Since 1990, Heather has published three novels: Warsaw Spring, A Drop of Rain, and Wacousta. She has also worked on other novels, a humorous grammar book, a number of articles, and two books about Mazo de la Roche, a once-famous Canadian author. She is currently working on a new novel for young adults. Read more about the author here...
